Our volunteers are people who are interested in spending time with a family with young children, to be of support to the parents and who enjoy taking an interest in the well being and development of the children. During their induction, and at regular morning teas, volunteers take part in discussions about the values and practices we would like them to show when they visit families. The following are some of the attitudes we look for in our volunteers:
- To regard parents as the experts in their own lives
- To support parents to find their own solutions to the challenges they face
- To value difference
- To be good listeners
- To be flexible
- To be caring
- To be honest
- To have realistic expectations
- To look after their own needs
All volunteers are required to undergo a NSW Working with Children Check.
Application for a WWCC number is made online at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-working-children-check
